0 of 2eLLLve. And It Begins...

I've spend the better part of the last two years writing in my spare time.  Before I started, I had never written other than for school or an odd project for work.  It is now a core part of how I communicate with the world.

I started with a "go big or go home" approach.  Over the course of about four hours and prompted by a conversation with a writer on my first post divorce date, I launched into something I initially thought stupid - I would NEVER keep a journal and write my feelings in it! - to making the commitment that night to write, every single day for an entire year.  How would I hold myself accountable?  By going public.   While I didn't care if anyone ever read what I wrote, I knew if I made a public proclamation that I was going to do it, I'd do it.  And I did.

To say I'm goal orientated might be an understatement.  I suppose it is my way of making sure I don't go stale.  If I don't have a goal to be working on, I feel like I am complacent, or somehow stagnating.  It has nothing to do with being competitive with others; I learned long ago to follow my own path in terms of defining my standard of happiness and life satisfaction. It has everything to do with being competitive with myself.  If I have one life to live, and I do not want to waste it.  You often hear of people facing an terminal illness attempting to live everyday to the fullest.  I choose to attempt to live like that while I am healthy.

This does not mean that every single day I wake up and jump out of an airplane.  It means that I am constantly searching for ways to expand my world view, my perspective and my outlook.

So, this new year, I am trying something different.

Rather than make the typical new year's resolutions, I have mapped out a year long journey.  I'm calling it 2eLLLve.  Yes, that's "twelve."

The 2 represents "To".  To do. To experience. To accomplish.
The LLL represent "Life Long Learning."  Something I hope I never lose passion for.
Put it all together, and that's what I'm going to do in 2016.  12 learning experiences. Executed every single day for a month before moving on to the next.

At the end of each month, I'll share the journey.  What the goal was, what I learned, and how and if it had any bearing on my life. Each will be different. Some business, some personal, some life long goals I've never quite made the time for or commitment to.

So, today being January 1, it's time to roll up my sleeves and start experiencing.

I'll look forward to sharing the first of the 2eLLLve missions on 1/31.
